THE Oxfam bookshop in Tavistock recently received a donation of cricketing books, celebrating cricket highlights and telling cricket stories from the 1960s and 1970s. Names such as Colin Cowdrey, Len Hutton, John Arlott and Christopher Martin-Jenkins are featured in the books.

They will be in the shop for sale this week, with a display in the window.

Val Sharpe, bookshop manager, said: 'We are learning a lot as we go about a whole host of subjects we thought we knew nothing about. We don't have a cricket expert, but it was really interesting going through this donation, a slice of history in many ways and so many familiar names we can now place.'

The bookshop is open Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 5pm, and accepts donations of books and music anytime, on any subject.
