I HAVE just been spending a very happy Christmas in one of the new rooms in this lovely Abbeyfield home, with visits from my family and friends, and every luxury and comfort I could wish for.

But one of the nicest moments was last Wednesday when I sat in the meadows opposite, and watched my young grandchildren playing on the equipment there, with a lot of other small children.

Suddenly, a fully uniformed policeman appeared. The mothers all surrounded and welcomed him, and the small children all hurled themselves at him, embracing his legs and invited him to pay ball with them, which he did!

It was just how I remembered things when I was a child, and I am now 90. I hope that this looks well for the future, I'm sure that it is how this ought to be.
