Carlsberg South Western League Liskeard 2 Tavistock 2 THIS game (October 18) saw open attacking throughout but the Lambs felt they could have taken all three points. Matt Cusack shot straight at Andy Meeds with Sean Cann?s high free kick into the home side?s area, causing keeper Simon Zinn to miss the ball, but the danger was cleared. Glynn Hobbs shot wide for the Lambs before Dominic Richardson shot wide of a post and Gary Williams shot weakly at Meeds. Appeals for a Lambs penalty fell on deaf ears just before the interval when James Steer was sent sprawling in the area. The second half was lively. Hobbs got to the by-line to cross low for the ball to be deflected into the path of an unbalanced Lee Ireland to shoot over. On the hour a good move involving John Gosling and Steer saw Will Stringer cut inside from the right to send in a left-footed shot that sailed inches wide. A minute later the Blues went ahead when Paul Baker turned sharply just outside the area to fire in a shot that went in off the underside of the bar. The Lambs responded with 20 minutes remaining when Morris was put through out wide to shoot over Zinn from an acute angle. Another appeal for a penalty in the Lambs? favour went ignored as Conday appeared to be fouled in the area. The home side broke immediately for Matt Penry to slot home from close range. Back came the Lambs to draw level for the second time within a minute when Gosling?s cross was headed home by a diving Conday coming around the back of the defence. In the last ten minutes the Lambs had the better of the chances to go ahead. Hobbs? fierce low cross saw Stringer stab over from the edge of the goal area, Hobbs then saw his shot fly inches wide. Conday was adjudged to be offside when clean through with a late official?s flag and Zinn just got fingers to a Hadjiyianni strike to send the ball over the bar after Chris Menhinick?s cross into his path.
