BLACKSMITHS from all over the country will descend on the Finch Foundry, Sticklepath, next month to celebrate St Clement's Day.

The Foundry — one of the last remaining water powered forges in England — will host the traditional celebrations on November 22 in honour of the patron saint of blacksmiths.

Competitions, live demonstrations and morris dancers will be among the festivities, and mince pies and mulled wine will ensure nobody goes hungry or thirsty.

Finch Foundry opened in 1814 and worked commercially until 1960. Since then, it has been run as a museum and became part of the National Trust in 1994.
