TAVISTOCK Business Association, formerly known as the 31 Club, is celebrating its 32nd birthday this year.

Originally established by Robin Fenner in 1980, the association exists to provide a forum in which matters relevant to the local business community can be discussed and, where appropriate, representations made to local and national government.

Over the years the association has made regular grants to a wide range of local interests such as Tavistock Music and Arts Festival, St Luke's Hospice, Devon Youth Band and Tavistock Street Pastors.

Current president Andrew Alcock said: 'Our monthly meetings provide an ideal monthly opportunity for our members to network and discuss matters of local interest and to catch up with their fellow members.'

The association meets on a monthly basis alternating between lunches at Taylor's Restaurant and dinners at the Bedford Hotel.

During the monthly meetings association members can discuss matters of interest to the local community. If there is a particular subject of interest the association will invite a speaker to one of its monthly meetings.

Ordinary membership is limited to 31 and a limited number of vacancies are currently available to any local business people who may be interested in joining.
