A HORRABRIDGE man who underwent life-saving heart surgery at Derriford Hospital has donated £1,000 to a ward at the hospital. Melvyn Snell asked friends and families to make donations for Tamar Ward instead of giving him presents for his 60th birthday ? but did not expect to raise such a large sum. Mr Snell said he was amazed at the generosity shown and was delighted to be able to donate the money to the ward, where it will be used to buy new equipment. He paid tribute to surgeon Dr Joe Motwani and his team and the ?fabulous? staff in Tamar Ward who looked after him so well during his hospital stay.
