MORE than 50 children from Years 5 and 6 of Chagford Primary School enjoyed a day of education and fun at Fernworthy to mark the reservoir's 60th birthday.

The youngsters took part in bug hunts, visited prehistoric hut circles and enjoyed party games and competitions.

Guest of honour at the birthday party was Andy Potter and his mother — Mr Potter's father was one of the construction crew at the dam and gave his name to 'Potter's Walk' which circles the reservoir.

He answered pupils' questions and his mother cut the birthday cake while Happy Birthday was sung.
