A BRENTOR based children's charity has sounded its first call to golfers to dust of their clubs for the annual Golf Day 2007. Country Holidays for Inner City Kids (CHICKS) has launched its countdown to the Golf Day on Friday, June 1, at Trethorne Golf Club in Launceston. CHICKS provides free respite breaks for disadvantaged children aged between eight and 15 years from all parts of the UK. The charity is currently raising funds to pay for more than 600 children to benefit from a CHICKS break in 2007. Nicola Bean, CHICKS event fundraiser, said: 'We're looking to make 2007 our biggest and best annual Golf Day ever and we are determined to raise even more than last years fantastic total of £5,000. In 2006 CHICKS provided breaks for 82 children from the South West, children who could have come from a multitude of different backgrounds, but with the common need of a break from their everyday lives. However, we need your support to continue this work in 2007.' The Golf Day begins at 9am with registration and coffee in the clubhouse. Entry cost is £125 for a team of four, which will include a bacon roll on arrival, 18 holes of golf, and a two course meal. For more information contact Nicola on 01822 811108.
