IN response to the letter regarding the rubbish at the new 'Tavi Trails', the youth cafes BMX/MNT bike trails, I would like to apologise on behalf of the trails users for the rubbish that was discarded in the canal.

The new facility has only been open since April and we have had to wait for a litter bin to be supplied by the town council. In the mean time young people were encouraged to put litter into the bin liners that the youth café and the town council supplied them with.

In the riders' defence, they where constantly asking me when the litter bin was coming, and picking up most of the litter for the council and youth café to discard. Unfortunately we don't know every young person and adult that uses the facility as it is open to the public, and people have been coming from miles around to use them.

Although this is great it means we can't always get the message through to everyone about the importance of keeping the trails clean and well maintained.

The 'Tavi Riders' are very pleased to finally have their dirt jumps open and do respect the facility as they know what it took to have them built in such a fantastic area.

I would like to express that the town council have been brilliant in their help with keeping the area free of full bin bags of rubbish, and we have since been supplied with a litter bin, which riders are very pleased about.

The youth café will be keeping a close eye on the way the trails are used by the public and hopefully we will reduce any litter problems in the future.
