TAVISTOCK Livestock Centre hosted the largest December Fair sale in its history recently, with 505 cattle and more than 200 sheep sold.
Auctioneers Ward and Chowen reported an excellent entry of stock and buyers from all around the country.
Top price of the day was £595 for two Limousin Steers, which sold to Mr Reddicliffe of Sydenham Damerel.
No claim steers met high demand, topping at £588 for an Aberdeen Angus cross from R E Dawe and Son, of Milton Abbot.
Suckled calf steers sold to £555 for an 8-month-old Charolais cross from Mr Medland, of Tavistock.
In the sheep pens, trade was exceptionally brisk with store lambs up on the previous month. Top price was £45.50 for a pen of ewe lambs from Mr Glanville, of Milton Abbot.
