TO celebrate the opening of their new green and clubhouse, Bere Alston Bowling Club will be playing a match against an England Presidents team on May 10.

For several years, the club has been aware of the need for a new home after the club was made aware that it would lose its lease on their current facilities. In 2007, the club found a new site, and after the club raised all the necessary funds themselves, have managed to build a new green and clubhouse.

Club chairman Ken Bellchambers said he was looking forward to the match 'with great anticipation. We've played county matches before, but nothing on this scale.' He added that he was 'keen to give them a good match!'
