THE first formal consultation about the proposed Tavistock Business Improvement District (BID) will be taking place on Wednesday (September 29).
All local business owners and local managers representing businesses within the town centre are invited to attend the meeting, which will give details about the proposal, how a BID works and how the proposal would affect businesses and the town.
There are more than 100 existing BID towns and cities in the UK, so there will be plenty of information available, including successful projects already implemented in other areas.
Phil Gordon, project director of the Dorchester BID, which has been in place for the past two years, will be at the meeting to answer any questions.
Claire Robertson from Wellworths, based in Dorchester, will also be attending to give her view as an independent retailer on how the BID has affected her business.
The consultation will take place at the Bedford Hotel's Gallery 26 at 6pm.
