WEST Devon Aquathlon athletes excelled as individuals and combined to dominated the team results at the Devon Youth Games. After some great competition in the pool and around the grass laps of Marjon sports fields in Plymouth, the lime green shirts of West Devon athletes just kept finishing near the front of every race. Four silver medals, one bronze and consistently high places throughout made waiting for the team results an exciting end to the day. It was gold team medals for both school years five and six and school years seven and eight. Years nine and 10 with an athlete short had to be content with the best score for three athletes. Team manager Paul Chinn said: 'It is the best result we have ever had at the Youth Games. Each athlete raised their game as they knew that each team point counted. 'Every athlete went home with at least one medal each. The combined efforts of athletes from Tavistock Athletic Club, Tavistock Swimming Club, Kelly College and Zest Youth Triathlon showed what great strength in depth there is in West Devon.'
