MAYOR of Okehampton Cllr Frances Luxton has fully endorsed Heyday, the organisation which supports people who are planning for, approaching and in retirement to make the most of life. The mayor gave her backing ahead of an open house day to launch Heyday in the Okehampton area, which takes place in the courtyard at the Museum of Dartmoor Life this Saturday, December 2, between 10am and 4pm. Heyday is a not for profit nationwide membership organisation backed by Age Concern to address the aspirations of the increasing number of people set to retire over the next decade. Heyday is conducting an ongoing national survey, 'Have Your Say', to determine the wants and needs of the so-called baby boom generation and Cllr Luxton said she hoped the people of Okehampton would take part and make their voices heard. Visitors to the free event will be able to access independent information and advice on issues affecting those who are just retired or close to retirement age, enjoy refreshments and browse the Heyday magazine.
