A FORMER Tavistock College student has successfully completed 32 weeks of the hardest initial training in the world to become a Royal Marines Commando. John Gilbert passed out at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines at Lympstone with 907 Troop in June. John said the training was ?the hardest 32 weeks of my life ? but easily the most rewarding?. The distinctive hallmark of a Royal Marines Commando is the Green Beret. It indicates to others that the wearer has undergone gruelling and physically demanding tests of endurance. John will be joining 42 Commando Royal Marines who are based in Plymouth.
