WORLD Cup and former Plymouth Argyle striker Rory Fallon dropped in to Bere Alston to have a kick about and do some coaching with youngsters in the village.

Youth 2 Youth, provided the football coaching session with Rory Fallon, the New Zealand international, in order to engage local young people with an interest in something positive.

Jen Potts, youth worker in Bere Alston, said: 'The session was fantastic. We had 14 young people attend, many of which were not our usual members. They all had a great time and showed off their football skills. Heather Wright was the only girl and displayed great skills among the boys — it was great to see so much talent.

'Rory had them working on fitness, ball control, passing, discipline, communication and team work. He is passionate about working in the community and sees the importance of good role models for young people in a culture where footballers behave badly with little consequence.

'Young people need positive figures in their lives in order to show them that they don't have to behave negatively to get what they want in life.'

Youth 2 Youth provide regular activities and support for young people in Bere Alston and the local youth centre. For more information about regular sessions or summer programme contact Jen Potts on 07857 272045 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
