I WAS pleased to meet so many of my constituents in Kelly Bray and other areas of South East Cornwall when I delivered my most recent update informing my constituents on many of the issues I have been working on over the first year of the new parliament.
I was also pleased to feature some information about Alison Hernandez who is the Conservative candidate in the Police and Crime Commissioner election.
With the first of two polling days taking place on May 5, I would urge all my constituents to use their vote. I believe it is very important to have your say through our democratic system.
I was also delighted to join Cllr Jim Flashman to look around the newly opened Tamar View Holiday Park in St Anne’s Chapel. I remember as a child seeing the view out across the countryside to Plymouth Sound when driving to my granny’s house in Calstock. This view always signalled to me that we were ‘nearly there’.
There is a stunning view which can be seen from each of the caravans on the site.
I would like to pay tribute to the owners of the site Brean Beach Holiday Parks for the sensitive way that they have approached this development and it was really good to see that they have welcomed the neighbouring property owners to see the site for themselves.
This site is the third Brean Beach Holiday Parks have developed and I am sure that it will be a great asset for St Annes Chapel and the wider Tamar Valley.
It was a real privilege to join my constituent William Jago and his family aboard the French Naval Ship Dixmude. William received the French Legion D’Honneur for his part in liberating France during WW2 and was one of the small number of veterans to receive his medal from the Commanding Officer of the Dixmude.
Last week I was delighted to light the Beacon in Crafthole to celebrate the birthday of Her Majesty the Queen. The lighting of the Queen’s celebration beacon at Crafthole was a huge success. Even the rain could not spoil such an occasion. This was a very special event for a very special lady.
