MOST people feel a sadness to see the abandoned Rest Room in Tavistock. Another such sadness occurred last week when a beautiful granite seat in Parkwood Road built by the late Mr Kaminski was bulldozed.
Mr Kaminski was held with much respect in Tavistock and his thoughtfulness in putting this mid-way along the road was appreciated by many elderly people. Those living in the area would verify that it was used constantly, with a wheeler or shopping bag parked alongside the occupant.
A wall is being built where it was and the builders said there would be a garden behind it. Perhaps a memorial to Mr Kaminski would be appropriate with seats for the public, though none would be equivalent to the one removed that had been created with care for his fellow neighbours.
