Ordulph Arms FC 7
Buckland FC 2
THE Ordulph Arms claimed their second consecutive 7-2 victory with Ben Stephens claiming his second hat-trick of the week.
The home side started the better and Buckland keeper Reme Holland was tested early on. Ordulph took the lead through Paul Hoskin who found himself in acres of space in the Buckland box. They could have extended their lead but for some good keeping from Holland.
The visitors then had their best spell of the game and equalised with a header. Buckland then found themselves ahead after a superb volley on the turn by former Ordulph player Danny Brockington. From then on Ordulph took control of the game and were level within a few minutes as Ben Stephens reacted first to tap in from close range.
The hosts then got their noses in front before half time with James Aggiss claiming his first goal for the club with an unstoppable right footer from 25 yards.
Ordulph started the second half in great form and brought on Jack Payne, who played well down the right hand side. The hosts had to wait before extending their lead - the decisive goal came after a superb run by James Phillpotts who beat three players before unselfishly teeing up Stephens who had his second tap in of the evening.
The floodgates soon opened after some good work by Nick John on the wing, who delivered superbly, which led to Aggiss claiming his second.
The hosts looked confident and were defending superbly through Gaden, Dudley, Payne, John and Rob Moloney and it was Moloney who knocked up the sixth goal smashing home from a corner.
Stephens finished the game in style for Ordulph, beating two players and driving an unstoppable left foot shot into the bottom corner to claim another hat-trick.
Ordulph Arms FC 4
SWEB FC 1
ORDULPH Arms made it three wins from three games despite a somewhat lacklustre performance. SWEB started stronger and were on top, however they did not really threaten the Ordulph goal.
Ordulph scored against the run of play after some wonderful one touch football by Phillpotts and Dudley, which opened up the Sweb defence and put Ben Stephens through; Stephens squared the ball for Paul Hoskin to finish.
They doubled the score when Aggiss put Stephens through who expertly lobbed the keeper from 25 yards. Stephens then turned provider with his cross being deftly headed into the net by Matthew Dudley for his first goal of the season.
Sweb then had a good spell and were awarded a penalty following a foul by Nicholas John. Sean Moloney saved brilliantly down to his right. Moloney then made two more good saves and Paul Gliddon cleared a shot off the line before Sweb deservedly pulled a goal back.
Both teams created chances in the second half but with Sean Moloney inspired in the Ordulph goal and two goal line clearances from John, Ordulph held firm. James Coole then struck the bar with a cross shot before being put through by Jack Payne, Coole rounded the keeper and unselfishly squared to sub Daniel Behennah who calmly slotted the ball home.
