POLICE in West Devon are supporting a seat belt campaign, aiming to promote road safety and cut fatalities on the road by 40% by 2020.

The initiative started on Monday and finishes on Sunday. In a recent study, of 1,059 car occupants killed in crashes, 21% of people were not wearing a seat belt.

Officers will be working with local road casualty reduction officers and special constables during the campaign where anyone caught not wearing a seat belt will be fined £60.
