BELSTONE made it four wins out of four in the Buckley Cup last Thursday when they completed the double over Yeoford on a dark and midge-infested evening at Rew Meadow. Yeoford started well, Johnson taking the first three Belstone wickets in his opening seven balls with only nine runs on the board.

Simon Tremain, with 25 not out, then held the innings together while Chris Walpole (24) picked up some quick boundaries on the leg side, leaving the home side with a moderate total of 79 from their 20 overs.

With the ball keeping low and hurrying off the wet pitch, Yeoford found scoring difficult in the face of an accurate Belstone attack, Chris Walsh removing both openers in his first 13 balls at the cost of a single and young Robert Hall only conceding five from his four overs.

Collins battled through for an undefeated 26, but Yeoford were unable to accelerate in the second half of their innings, finally running out of overs 25 runs short.

Torquay were the visitors last Sunday; although they only lost three wickets in 40 overs Belstone restricted the score to 143 of which Pastewski made a fine undefeated 66. Having suffered a first ball duck against Yeoford Eddie Jones was back to his powerful best when Belstone began their reply, hitting 7 fours and 4 sixes in a knock of 87, scored out of 115 in 27 overs, including a third wicket stand of 86 of which Andrew Moppett contributed seven.

Tomorrow (Friday) sees Belstone take on Chagford in the final of the Lancaster Cup; supporters are welcome at Chagford's ground for the 6pm start.

On Sunday Belstone are away against Newton Abbot Post Office in the League and the following day entertain tourists Ashtead at Rew Meadow - with a barbecue to follow.
