THERE was a fourth medal for Kelly Girls at the Paralympics in Beijing, China, including a third medal for swimmer Louise Watkin.

Louise, aged 16, won a bronze in the 200m individual medley S9,  to add to her silver medal in the 100m freestyle S9, and she just pipped her team mate Claire Cashmore, who was fourth.

Dr Graham Hawley, headmaster and principal of the Kelly College Foundation, said: 'Kelly is a small school and it is a huge achievement to have three of our girls - Claire Chashmore, Louise Watkin and Lauren Steadman - competing at the Paralymic Games in Beijing.

'The whole Kelly community is delighted with the performances of all the girls, and we are thrilled with the medals that Louise and Claire have won. We shall all be cheering them on as they strive for further success in their forthcoming races.

'I would like to congratulate all those who have contributed to the girls' success — it is a huge team effort involving coaching, teaching and support staff at Kelly.'
