Tamar League
Whitchurch v Brentor
WHITCHURCH were comprehensively beaten by Brentor in the final league match of the season.
Whitchurch lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Neil Folley was out early, unfortunately caught off a top edge, but then Richard Hall and Ian Gray shared a stand of 90 for the second wicket.
Both batted well against some consistently accurate bowling. Hall was eventually out for 65, the first of four victims for Jerry Warland and Gray again just missed out on a half-century, being run out for 47 in the run chase at the end of the innings.
Warland was the pick of the bowlers for Brentor with the impressive figures of 4 for 24 from 12 overs. Whitchurch finished with 144 for 7 from their 40 overs.
In reply, the Brentor openers Tremaine and Credicott never looked seriously troubled by a Whitchurch attack consisting of 7 front line bowlers. Tremaine was eventually out, caught by Tom Ingram off the bowling of Andy Alford for 59, but by then the damage had been done. Credicott (65 no) and Mallon (12 no) saw Brentor home with 6 overs and 9 wickets to spare.
Brentor took 18 points, Whitchurch 3 points.
