MEMBERS of the Tavistock Music Academy (TMA) enjoyed their first free workshop recently.

Alex Norgate from TURNTEKK visited the academy to demonstrate to the children how to beat box. Free termly workshops are just one of the new developments of the academy run by new director David Gray.

It is now host to a beginner brass group, violin group, ukulele group, choir, guitar group, percussion group, orchestra and jazz band. The academy is hoping to begin a beginner's clarinet group after half term and now owns a new junk band.

Anyone between seven and 18, who is interested in joining the academy should contact David Gray at [email protected]">[email protected]

The academy is free to all new members for the first term and £10 a term thereafter. Violins and brass instruments can be rented for £10 a term. It runs for ten weeks a term and is held at Tavistock College on Fridays between 4pm to 6pm.

The academy is run by four music teachers and musicians. Visit http://www.tavistockmusicacademy.co.uk">www.tavistockmusicacademy.co.uk for more information.
