THE public will have the opportunity to find out all about Youthwize at an open day to be held at the Pixon Lane offices in Tavistock.
Youthwize, which comes under the umbrella of the Devon Youth Association, has officially re-launched its Wheels Project which had been grounded for almost a year because of lack of funding.
Youthwize provides an information and advice centre for youngsters between 13 and 19 years old — and the mobile unit is a satellite project that allows workers to go out and supply help in rural areas.
'It allows people who cannot come to Youthwize to access it from their village. People come to us for everything from housing to benefits to sexual health to family relations,' said Wheels Project co-ordinator Charlie Cruise.
'The whole thing is very approachable and is fully confidential.'
Project manager for Devon Youth Association, Diane Simpson, said it was decided to hold a Youthwize Open Day because a lot of people were not aware of the work carried out.
'People who are interested in what we are doing and would like to find out more can call in. There will be displays and visitors can have a chat and get to know us.
'A lot of people and charities inthe area are aware that we are here but not 100 per cent sure of what we do. We want to break down those barriers,' she said.
The Youthwize base for West Devon has its headquarters in Tavistock. There is also a unit in Okehampton.
The Pixon Lane premises will be open to the public on Thursday, April 25 between 11am and 4pm. Everyone is welcome.
