MY wife, 4-year-old son and I visited the BMX park near the Meadows for the first time last weekend. My son often asked if we could go in so that he could try out his little bike.

There was a crowd of noisy teenagers, which was quite normal for any park. A few of the younger ones started to swear, having fun.

To our surprise two of the older boys in the group told all the teenagers to stop swearing because there was a young boy on his bike and he didn't need to hear such language. And then they cleaned up the litter on the floor around the area where my son was riding his bike.

We moved from Plymouth three years ago. We found the parks in Plymouth unwelcoming for children because of the drug dealers, swearing and aggressive behaver.

These teenagers at the BMX park in Tavistock are such a good example to my son. They went on to show him how to ride safely on his bike.

Tavistock should be proud of its teenagers — there are a lot worse out there.
