AN open day at a Tavistock bed and breakfast last month raised £600 for a local family. April Cottage opened its doors to the public in May to raise funds for Tavistock boy Paul Lewis, who is autistic, to receive an outreach session with Bethany Burton, child facilitator of the Son-Rise Programme of America. Sandra Callaghan from April Cottage presented the Lewis family and Mrs Burton, who is one of two child facilitators for the whole of the South West, with a cheque outside Paul's Son-Rise playroom.  Paul's father, Allen, said: 'We are very touched as they are a lovely family and they are supporting our cause and improving our programme and equipment. 'Paul's room is now here in Tavistock for any West Country families to use for outreach sessions. We will continue to work hard promoting the ideas of this powerful therapy to help change autistic children's lives for the better.' Anyone who would like to use the family's playroom for an outreach session should contact Allen Lewis on 01822 614335. l Pictured left to right are Bethany Burton, child facilitator for the Son-Rise Programme, Allen Lewis, Paul Lewis and Sandra Callaghan from April Cottage.
