Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 4 cup final

Lamerton 4

Looe 1

LAMERTON travelled to Callington on a wet and miserable Thursday evening to contest the final. They had the better of the early exchanges and took the lead when Paul Cowling lobbed the Looe keeper having been put clear by Richard Downing.

Looe hit back when a free kick rebounded off the injured Pete Daniel and was stabbed in.

The ten minutes before half-time saw Lamerton gain a lead of two goals. Kev Swift hit a crisp left foot shot after good work down the left by Cowling and Sean Cann then Cann himself broke clear to get the third.

The second half began badly for Lamerton who were soon down to ten men, but the crucial moment came when Looe fired wide a penalty. Lamerton got a fourth when Cowling turned a defender and slid the ball into the net. From then on they battled to keep the advantage. Daniel made a couple of great saves from one-on-ones while Lamerton also had chances to kill the game.

In the end a battling performance gained the first trophy for the club.
