A NEW Tavistock base for a children?s charity has been set up to make it easier for families to seek support and advice. Charity Barnardos has moved into a temporary home at Tavy Business Centre in Pitts Cleave Industrial Estate, while looking for a larger, permanent base. The opening of the base is part of the development of a new children?s centre for Tavistock and surrounding villages. The project, part of a wider partnership with Devon County Council, has already attracted interest. More than 200 people attended the project?s first fun day, held in the Meadows last month. This led to more than 50 families registering their details. Children?s services manager Jenny Coleman said: ?Although our new home is only a temporary arrangement, it brings us much closer to the people that we?re here to help. ?It makes it easier for us to build bridges with local families, as well as with the various agencies and other organisations working to provide people with a brighter future. ?We would be delighted to hear from anyone interested in learning more about what we can offer, and how we can help children to transform their lives and fulfil their potential.? Barnardo?s is currently offering free funding to a wide range of organisations, including pre-schools, schools, nurseries and clubs. The Barnardo?s Tavistock office is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm. For more information contact Jenny on 01822 614210.
