WALTER Shortage and the Hosepipe Banned are back by popular demand to celebrate local charity Tamwed's first five years at Lydford on September 25.

Tamwed (Tamil Nadu/West Devon) was set up soon after the tsunami to link with and support communities that had been devastated by the huge tidal wave.

Tamwed, chaired by the late Gill Gorbutt, moved on to work with partner organisations in remote rural areas of South India that are unaffected by the economic boom taking place in some Indian cities.

Donations by local people are currently supporting the work of ten community health workers who train others in their villages in basic health care and disease prevention.

The barn dance will be held in the Nicholls Hall at Lydford between 7.30pm and midnight.

Tickets are £5 in advance, £6 on the door. Refreshments are available but guests should bring their own alcohol. For tickets go to http://www.tamwed.org">www.tamwed.org, email [email protected]">[email protected] or call 01822 832897.
