WORLD Book day is being celebrated in West Devon libraries this week, with a host of reading-related activities. The eighth World Book Day is today (Thursday) and is the biggest annual celebration of books and reading in the UK and Ireland. At Okehampton Library, staff are holding a massive sale of second hand books ? an ideal opportunity for picking a bargain. In Tavistock, the library is celebrating the launch of the library service?s new children?s website with a special tea for invited groups of children, while during the evening, book groups have been invited into the library to share reviews. Daisy, the lifesize duck, is entertaining nursery children and under-5s, all week and tomorrow, Chanda will be demonstrating African drumming and story telling to children from local schools. The week is rounded off on Saturday with a visit from Chloe the Clown, who will be staging a magic show between 10.30am and 11.30am.
