BANNAWELL Street residents in Tavistock are having to put up with a ‘noisy neighbour’ — but not one you would assume.

The culprit in this case is a manhole cover.

The manhole in question is at the top of Bannawell Street, where it meets Drake Road. It was installed in September 2017 but not long after became insecure and began to cause noise when driven over.

It was soon replaced but within a few months it began to terrorise the neighbours once more.

Residents have been petitioning local and county councillors ever since due to the thunderous noise it gives off when a vehicle drives over the manhole cover — and as it is a busy road, neighbours have had enough with the constant noise.
