A NIGHT of music in aid of Walkhampton's celebrations for the Diamond Jubilee will take place at the Memorial Hall this month.

Supporting Walkhampton's cooperative effort for the big day in the Summer, will be the up and coming band 'The Normals', a brass-led, five piece ska influenced folk/rock outfit.

Playing a heady mix of classic tunes – Van Morrison, Neil Young, Amy Winehouse and Coldplay — inter-leaved with their own maturing tracks, The Normals have quickly grown into a tight, professional outfit with a bracing and unusual sound.

A hit on the South West festival circuit last year, The Normals have have recently completed a weekend of studio recording. Their new EP will soon be released to an eager local fan base.

The fundraiser at Walkhampton runs from 7pm till midnight on Saturday March 24 and will cost just £2 on the door.

There will be a licensed bar selling real ales, wines and soft drinks.

Walkhampton's Jubilee celebrations will take place on June 3.
