Plymouth and West Devon Combination Senior League Yealm GR 3 Buckland MC 0 IT was not one of their better days for Buckland MC in Saturday's fixture against Yealm GR at the Newton Ferrers Pitch. Hampered by late absentees from the squad, Buckland, playing with only 10 men for the first few minutes, needed to start the game quickly against strong and well skilled opponents. With 11 men in play they quickly conceded two well constructed goals from Alex Cole and Paul Daniels. Play developed fairly evenly although Yealm always looked the more sharper side up front. In the second half, with the dazzling sun behind them, a more resolute Buckland upped the tempo of their game and forced openings rather than great chances. From one corner 'Captain' Creber crashed a header against the Yealm bar. Half chances to Ross, Glanville and Arberry followed but Yealm were able to keep the men from Buckland at bay. On the 75th minute Yealm were effectively able to kill the game off as from a quick breakaway, a Lee Haddock shot was parried by the unfortunate Buckland keeper Remi Holland into the path of Lee Clarke, who tapped home. The second half was played in a better spirit by both sides. Overall Yealm deserved their win. Buckland MC 5 The Friendship Inn 3 BUCKLAND'S improved season last week continued with the 5-3 defeat of The Friendship Inn. They took a commanding 4-1 league, however they never looked comfortable as the Inn shared play in terms of possession and shots on goal. Andrew Fallon started the scoring in the fifth minute following a fine Buckland movement from flank to flank. The second Buckland goal came from Andrew Kinsman who blasted the ball into the right hand corner of the net. James Barnicott sliced a third and Fallon, currently in a golden goal-scoring vein curled in a fourth. The Inn's Couling scored his second to make the score 4-2 at the interval. After the break Kevin Pewsey slotted the ball home after a fine passing sequence down the Friendship's right flank. Buckland's Russell Ellis sprung the offside trap to coolly rounded the keeper to bring the score to 5-3.
