RICHARD Freedman, club captain of Tavistock Swimming Club, is seventh best backstroke 100m swimmer in the West of Britain.

Richard swam superbly in the heats to make it into the Western Counties Championship Final at Millfield. In the final he improved his position to finish seventh.

He also swam 50m personal bests to achieve 10th place in the 50m backstroke and 17th place in the 50m freestyle.

Christopher Ralph, vice-captain, swam for the Army Cadets in the Inter-services National Gala. As well as a gold medal for the team medley relay, he took silver in the 100m breaststroke and third place in the individual medley.

Both Richard and Christopher are back into full training with the rest of Tavistock Swimming Squad for their last Speedo League fixture on December 13 and Devon County Championships in the New Year.
