MID Devon Pony Club tetrathletes travelled to Sparkford, Somerset, to take on a huge field of competitors at the Cotley Triathlon last Sunday, returning with honours all round.
In a class of 70 competitors, the mini girls team, Charlotte Rowe, Rosa Malseed and Ellen Bright, took first place, beating off opposition from five counties.
Charlotte won the individual class to continue her amazing run of success, now unbeaten for more than 12 months. Rosa came eleventh with the best shoot, and Ellen, who stepped in at the last minute to replace an injured team-mate, came 14th.
Mini boys William Leech and Antony Geering teamed up with Tristan Hext from North Cornwall to win the team section, William putting in a great all round performance with PBs in both shoot and run to come fourth individually, and Antony just a few points behind in sixth.
The Junior Girls? team, Rebecca Rowe, Scarlett Geering and Lydia Svennson, competing in another huge class of 14 teams, were just pipped into second place by 40 points. A fantastic effort for a young team, Scarlett and Lydia having only competed once before at this level.
Rebecca won the individual class convincingly with the best swim and a superb run, Scarlett came fourth and Lydia put in a PB shoot.
A triumphant start to the season for the club.
