THE East Cornwall Bach Choir, directed by Simon Ible, presents its final concert of the season at the Church of St Nonna at Altarnun in Cornwall tomorrow (Friday).

This moorland church, with its fine acoustics, will be the setting for the choir?s summer concert which last year drew large numbers of people to Altarnun.

As well as organ music solos by Jonathan Watts, the concert will consist of beautiful and lyrical a capella pieces and solo items, including many of the choir?s favourites. For example, the choir will sing Hugh Robertson?s All In An April Evening, probably the most famous of all choral songs, Bach?s well known and rousing motet Lobet den Herrn, all Heiden, and Henry Purcell?s divine Hear My Prayer, O Lord.

A highlight of the evening will be choir member Wendy Southam singing songs by Elgar and Quilter ? Wendy will be remembered for her marvellous solo singing in Brahm?s Requiem earlier in the choir?s season.

The choir will also sing one of the many beautiful choruses from Haydn?s Creation which they performed to great acclaim at their recent St German?s May festival.

To complete the conert, Simon Ible will conduct the choir singing a marvellous canzonetta by the Italian 16th century composer Orazio Vecchi. As Simon has to leave the choir at the end of the season, this will be his last piece with the East Cornwall Bach Choir.

Tickets are £6 and are available from North Cornwall Arts on 01840 214220 or at the door.
