Tavistock B 5
OPMs 3
THE first league hockey game after the long winter break for Tavistock men's third side saw their great team spirit lift the performance against what in the past four seasons has been their bogey team.
On paper these two sides are evenly matched, but from the whistle this Young Tavistock side was on top from the start pressing their oppenents all over the pitch and it was not long before Nick Andrews opened the scoring. Tavistock remained on top but then got caught on the counter attack and found themselves pegged back in a game they had been dominating.
OPMs took heart, and managed to go infront through more scrappy play in front of the Tavistock goal.
Tavistock soon found their feet and drew level before half time though with Andrews second.
The second half took on a similar pattern with Tavistock pressing again, Dom Stanbury and Dave Richards dominating the midfield. A well finished goal from Matt Edwards and Nick Andrews completing his hat-rick saw Tavistock B go 4-2 up before OPMs responded.
It was Tavistock who were not going to let a lead slip again, who took control and killed the game off with five minutes left, Andrews netting his fourth of the game.
