Bideford Colts 5 Okehampton Colts 33 OKEHAMPTON travelled away to Bideford with a reshaped team but were soon dominating with Mike Young and Chris Searle working hard in the pack along with Keith Jones who had his best game this season. Stuart Down was unlucky not to score after four minutes when he charged down a clearance kick five metres from the line. Scrum ball taken against the head by Dan Hudson saw Luke Webb break down the blind side and feed Ian Sercombe to drive over in the right corner. Against a strong wind Andy Herrod-Taylor caught the outside of the posts but was succesful with four further kicks, two of which were again on the touchline. He also had another safe game at full back with three try-saving tackles and cutting thrusts in attack. Mike Wannell was notable in the front row with good yardage from the rucks and a last ditch tackle to save a try. There are not many props that can ?mark? a high ball but Mike certainly can! The second try for Sercombe came from a good break with the fly half selling a dummy and cruising under the posts. Okehampton kept up the pressure in the second half and again found space on the wing with quick ruck ball seeing the full back breaking the defensive line, drawing the tacklers and feeding Andrew Lewis for the try. Bideford picked up their game and strung phases together finaly finding the overlap for a try in the corner. The last quarter was all Okehampton with tries for Luke Webb and Charles Dutfield as the forwards swamped the home tacklers. Simon Quick at scrum half had a good match driving his forwards up the pitch and releasing the backline.
