WITH the season reaching its climax Tavistock squash team, currently running high in division 4, travelled away to play against Westcountry squash team.

Having all season played a squad of eight regular players it was decided to end on a high note by fielding the strongest team possible.

This decision proved a good one with the first four players for Tavistock, Peter Middleton, Colin Grice, Tim Wallis and John Betts, all taking their matches 3-0 and gaining maximum points, 17-0 against their opponents.

Colin and Tim both had comfortable wins, but Peter and John had to work hard for their victories.

Unfortunately Andy Gauler, Tavistock's consistently strongest and competitive number one, had an off-night and struggled against Darren Smith of Westcountry, losing 3-0.

The club is undergoing a decorative revamp spearheaded by chairman Laurence Walshe, as well as a revival in membership and court activity.
