TWO Tavistock College sixth form students have been rewarded for their hard work and commitment thanks to local businesses.
Year 12 student Luke Green and Year 13 Ed Wilkins were named the first ever winners in a brand new sixth form reward scheme which recognises outstanding effort, attitude and attainment, as well as volunteering and contributing to the community.
Ed Wilkins, who scooped two tickets for Tree Surfers at Gulworthy, said: 'I'm surprised to have won but it's good to be recognised.
'I haven't been tree surfing before and it should be fun.
'I'm an ambassador for Tavistock College's languages specialism and work with the languages department at a student level, feeding back what students want and greeting international visitors.'
Luke Green also worked extremely hard and was nominated by all of his teachers for the commitment shown to his studies.
As the Year 12 winner he will be rewarded with a lesson from Tavistock-based Mark J Harris School of Motoring.
Pete Keegan, assistant director of sixth form, said: 'Ed and Luke thoroughly deserve recognition and we are very grateful that two local businesses have donated prizes to reward them for their exceptional effort.
'Their generosity means Tavistock College can award prizes every half term and encourage all students to aim to achieve their very best.'
