AWARDS for outstanding service were presented to two West Devon women during a ceremony at the Two Bridges Hotel near Princetown recently.
The awards were made by the Lewdown-based Countryside Watch Association to West Devon's Crime Prevention Officer PC Angie Frost and Pat Roke, a member of the civilian support staff at Tavistock Police Station. They were presented with their awards during the West Devon Community Safety Partnership lunch.
Colin Harris, West Devon community watch officer and chairman of the Countryside Watch Association, said Mrs Roke had worked for the police for more than 24 years and was a credit to the force.
Mr Harris said: 'I have known Pat for over 12 years and during that time, she has carried out her role in a professional manner and in a way that is the envy of other districts.'
Mrs Roke was due to retire shortly, said Mr Harris, who wished her a long and happy retirement.
PC Frost was nominated for her award in recognition of her commitment to community safety.
Mr Harris said: 'She works tirelessly for the whole district, not only as the CPO but also on the community safety partnership and in helping to run the Neighbourhood Watches in Devon — this award is well and truly deserved.'
He said during the last year, PC Frost had been involved in a wide variety of events and had helped set up several new Neighbourhood Watch Schemes.
The awards were presented to PC Frost and Mrs Roke by Chief Inspector Tony Steer of West Devon Police.
