A BRAND-new member awards programme for people in West Devon is soon to be launched by Harpers Fitness.

Harpers Fitness, which runs sport and leisure centres throughout the UK, is launching the programme which will recognise and celebrate the success stories and achievements of its members and users of Meadowlands Leisure Pool in Tavistock and Parklands Leisure Centre in Okehampton.

The Harpers Heroes Awards, launched on Wednesday, April 8, are now open to all members and customers of both leisure centres in Tavistock and Okehampton.

Harpers members will be able to enter the awards via the Harpers Fitness website at http://www.harpersheroes.co.uk">www.harpersheroes.co.uk

The awards will be announced at an awards ceremony which will take place in the autumn at the historic Bisham Abbey, which is managed by Harpers' parent company Leisure Connection on behalf of Sport England.

Kevin Yates, Harpers Fitness brand manager, said: 'We are very proud of our members and users for the hard work they put in to leading a more active and healthy lifestyle.

'We wanted to launch an awards programme to reward and recognise those who have achieved their fitness goals or are well on their way to doing so.'

The awards have been split into five categories: Shape, health, fitness, family, and community spirit.

The deadline for entries and nominations is Friday, September 14, 2009.
