THE deadline is almost here for this year's West Devon Mayoral awards, which aim to thank the borough's unsung heroes and heroines.
The awards are held annually to recognise people who have done something particularly noteworthy within the borough or who have enhanced its reputation on the national stage. The deadline this year is tomorrow (Friday).
The awards fall into three categories — a young person under the age of 18; an organisation or business in the borough or a person aged 18 years or over; and an individual or group who have made a significant contribution to the conservation and protection of the natural environment of West Devon.
Last year's awards went to young Hatherleigh bandsman, Andrew Collier, Lewdown Youth Cricket Club and Moorskills Farming Project.
Nomination forms are available from the reception of the council's Kilworthy Park offices in Tavistock, the Okehampton customer services centre at St James Street or from Janet Rosser, the mayor's secretary, on 01822 813629.
The forms can also be completed on-line (or hard copies printed off for completion) at http://www.westdevondevon.gov.uk/MayoralAwards">http://www.westdevondevon.gov.uk/MayoralAwards
