TAVISTOCK College has received an award for work on drugs and sexual education.

The Healthy Schools Award follows four years? work with the Youth Service in training peer educators to advise on drugs, alcohol, tobacco, sex and relationships.

Year 10 educators held sessions for Year 8 students about alcohol awareness, and a group of Year 12s will be having similar sessions at local youth clubs.

Students have had further education in drug awareness from books sponsored by Tavistock and District Funeral Service.

Service partner Andrew Marsh-Allen presented 29 copies of Drugs: An Education, edition 2, to college staff member Caroline Tossell and sixth form students.
