A WEST Devon author recently received recognition for his book with a literary award.
Tom Vowler from Tavistock, who has already won an international prize for his book, The Method and Other Stories, in 2010, has received another prize in the Edge Hill University's Short Story Prize 2011.
The prize is the UK's only award that recognises a published collection of short stories and has attracted entries from a number of distinguished writers and newcomers all competing for the winning title.
Mr Vowler was given the Readers' Award and a prize of £1,000.
Mr Vowler said: 'Winning the Edge Hill Readers' Prize is thrilling, especially given the stature of those on the shortlist, all of whom I'm sure deserved it equally. I'm delighted the book has been received so well — you don't write for prizes, but such critical acclaim is always nice. The prize money will go towards a much needed writing den at the bottom of the garden.'
