TWO local athletics clubs took part in the annual Frank Elford Autumn Trail in Plympton last weekend. This is an extremely popular 8 mile cross country race in the grounds of Newnham Park. The cooler weather offered excellent running conditions and due to the lack of rain the going was good. The course started on the flat and wound its way through the woods taking in four river crossings, this year the water only came up to the runners? knees and was not too cold! All runners achieving excellent times. There were a total of 30 athletes from Tavistock and making their debuts were Liz Brew and Henry Taylor. Jim Cole was the second man overall and a fantastic well done to Jo Kelsey who was the first lady home setting a new course record. First male was Laurence Sargeant with a brilliant time and first female and with a course personal best was Dotty Allan.
