OKEHAMPTON Rotary Club has decided to hold the delayed May Fair and Duck Race on August 5 in Simmons Park.

The event which is one of the club's main fundraisers of the year was postponed in May because of the foot and mouth crisis.

All the usual activities and attractions will be laid on, including a laser clay shoot, ferret races, bouncy castle, roundabouts, target golf, archery, skittles, tombola and car boot sales.

The main event of the day will be the duck race. For £1 you can buy a duck, see it launched, follow its progress down the river and perhaps win a cash prize.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy the spectacle of sedate rotarians letting their hair down and getting thoroughly wet!

By attending the day, you will be helping the rotary club raise funds to continue charitable work in the town, district and abroad.
