A GROUP of mothers will be holding an auction and promise of time to raise money for Help for Heroes.

The auction has been arranged by three mothers with sons who have either fought in Afghanistan or are due to fight, and a friend with military connections.

One of the mothers, Julie Marks, whose son was injured while fighting, said: 'We are looking for people to donate "lots" for the auction, from companies to individuals, who can promise to donate their time or offer services, perhaps walking a dog for a week, a basket of ironing or anything that people feel they could do.

'Perhaps there is a company who could donate something from their business. We would be very appreciative, as would the troops who will eventually benefit from the money raised.

'The charity is something that is very close to our hearts. We believe Help for Heroes is a very worthy cause, as it helps to support those who have returned with physical or mental injuries and scars.'

The auction will be held on Saturday March 27 at 7.30pm, in Bere Alston Parish Hall.

The event will be overseen by a professional auctioneer, a bar will be available for the evening, and the lots can be viewed beforehand at 7pm.

Anyone who is able to donate anything can contact Julie on 01822 840349, or email her on [email protected]">[email protected]
