CROWDS flocked to Bere Ferrers Quay last Saturday for the annual watersports extravaganza despite grey skies and rain. On the Tavy mudbanks, prior to high tide, four teams took part in a variety of games, including volley and beach ball, an obstacle course and a canoe relay. Children enjoyed face painting by Lizzy Maddock, and a balloon modeller, but the main attraction (see pictures) was the crab catching competition organised by Brian Lamb. At the event were the MSC Vintage Motorcycle static display, charity stalls, RNLI, Guide Dogs for the Blind, the Women's Institute, and St Andrew's Church stalls, which were all well supported. Local musicians entertained during the early evening. Adam Smith announced the team game results which were: 1 Mucky Monkeys; 2 Mud Muppits; 3 Mud-U-Like; 4 Ginge. Thanks were expressed to all who contributed to the community event, and to the sponsors.
